Why Kids Camp?

  • FAQ
  • What is Student Life Kids Camp like?

We design our Christian summer camps for 3rd-6th graders. Worship services and Life Groups make up the two most important parts of a day at Camp. Worship services include drama by All Things To All People®, praise music from trusted, experienced worship leaders and sound biblical teaching from gifted communicators. Life Groups are made up of 8-12 kids, one or two Student Leaders and one or two Adult Life Group Leaders. Kids spend much of their organized Camp time with their Life Group.

What is included in the cost per person?

The cost per person includes meals, lodging, a camp T-shirt, Bible study material, and all Student Life Kids Camp programming. Things like vending machines or items in the campus store (availability varies by campus) are not included.*Some locations have rooms that have queen, king, double beds, and/or sleeper sofas. At these locations, we book these rooms to max occupancy to keep the cost per person as low as possible, which means each pillow gets assigned to a person. A room with 2 queen beds sleeps 4 people. A room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa sleeps 6 people.

At our locations that have large bunk house accommodations, depending on the size of your group, you will likely share a cabin with other groups.

Click HERE to find your camp location details and review the SLEEP section of your camp location for more information.

Why is Student Life Kids Camp structured the way it is?

We strongly believe in the 52-week ministry of the local church, so we design our one week Christian summer camps to support a Kids Ministers’ 51 weeks of incredible work.

Why do you not hire staff to teach the bible studies?

We believe it’s important for adults from the local church to be involved in what happens at camp. After all, they go home with the students.

What about 2nd graders, younger children or preschoolers?

Second graders are up to you. If they’re normally a part of your group, they’re welcome at Camp. Just be aware that they’ll be classified as 3rd graders. There is no programming or childcare available for younger children or preschoolers. However, since many Kids Ministers would like to bring their families to camp, we will do our best to accommodate these situations for Kids Ministers only. Accommodations vary, so give us a call.

What will adult leaders do at camp?

Your adult leaders will be the all-stars of camp. They will disciple your students during Life Group, hang with your students during rec, and help enforce lights out so you’re all ready to go for the next day and more! A Life Group Leader Meeting is held each morning (with lots of coffee) to help your leaders prepare for Life Group and pray together.

Why do you ask my leaders to teach the Bible studies?

It goes back to the philosophy of supporting the local church. Getting adults involved in what happens at Camp allows friendships, accountability, and connection to get on the bus with the kids as they travel home. We also believe that small groups work best when they are actually small (8-12 kids). This size facilitates good discussion and allows kids to feel comfortable.

Will my kids be in a Life Group with kids from other churches?

No. We believe in the ministry of the local church and want your volunteers leading these groups so they can continue to disciple and invest in your kids’ spiritual growth back home.

What is the adult to kid ratio?

We request one adult for every seven kids.

What will Kids Ministers do at camp?

Camp is designed for Kids Ministers to be free from a lot of responsibility so they can spend time building relationships with their kids. Kids Ministers will gather together each evening one hour before worship service for a prayer and share time.

What are the goals of Student Life Kids Camp?

Though we have numerous goals, it ultimately comes down to people. Is life change happening in kids, adults and us? In Scripture, every time someone spent time with Jesus, they went away changed. We hope all of us leave this experience changed. Not because of technical effects, entertaining dramas, challenging recreation or even meeting new people; we are changed because we have been with Jesus.
