Comedic Storytelling

Tell us your funniest story! This story can be from when you were two, from two days ago, or you could make it up. We want to see how you convey what you find funny. Be creative and be convincing! Tell us this story like you would tell it to a friend.

Spoken Word

Please memorize the short spoken-word script found below. Choose a well lit, suitable filming location (against a wall, in a quiet classroom, etc.). Don’t edit different cuts together, perform in one piece as you would onstage. Don’t be a persona, be yourself! We don’t want to see you acting this script out; read the script and figure out how the message of this spoken word applies to you, then convey that in your video.

Light
By Haley Johnson

God said, Let there be light…
These four words filled the vastness of the universe with undeniable, incomparable light.
Waves of it, illuminating-
blindingly beautiful,
cascaded over a world that was yet to be fully created.
In the darkness of night, He hung the stars and the moon,
covering the world’s most sunless moments with layers of rich, clear, vivid light.
And then a choice-
A selfish choice changed the course of history.
No longer were we able to freely stand in the presence of the Son…
We were separated.
The perfect life we had lived was adulterated.
The light was dimmed and it seemed we were standing in an endless shadow of what had once been.
But through the night, God saw us standing in the dark,
trying to cover the stains of sin with hastily torn leaves.
He sent the Son, the light of the world,
to die so that we could once again walk with Him.
It was only through the death of the Son,
And the triumphant resurrection,
He was able to rescue us from eternal darkness.
And bring us back into the light.
